Why "Diamonds in the Rough"?
Deriving from the Greek word adamas, which means indestructible, the diamond has become a symbol for prestige, power, and passion.
A diamond in the rough is a stone that has been removed from its environment of surrounding rock but has not been cut or polished. It denotes something precious with the potential of colossal value—a great inner beauty waiting to be discovered. However, before one can behold this beauty, the stone must be cleansed and polished.
Just as a diamond is removed from its environment and deeply cut, we as women need to be removed from our surroundings so that God may cut and polish us to perfection. Allowing God to cut us in this way gives us access to prestige, power, and passion.
